About me

I'm 50 years old, I grew up in North Rhine-Westphalia as the son of two sports teachers and have practiced many different kinds of sports throughout my life. As a child, I played table tennis, did regular gymnastics and was in a swimming club for over 10 years. Then my dad kindled my passion for handball. As I was a good swimmer and had learned the intricacies of handball, the next combination was obvious: water polo! As my father was a ski instructor too, we always spent the winter holidays in the Alps, so I can claim to be a passable skier. To work on explosive sprinting, I also liked to play squash, an extremely dynamic and complex sport that challenges both body and mind. During my studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz I ran volleyball training sessions and learned to play tennis, the latter unfortunately with only moderate success. But for over two decades now, soccer has been my true passion! When my children were young, the local sports club was looking for a soccer coach. As I had already gained some experience as a youth coach, I took on the role. In order to carry out the task professionally and meet the expectations of the club and its enthusiastic young players, I gradually acquired several coaching licences - so far up to UEFA B level. My passion led me to the highest German league for under-15 players, the German Regionalliga. Currently, I coach a men's team and do a little CrossFit training and bodybuilding to keep in shape.
While I may not have reached the highest professional levels in these sports, as you can see, I have a very broad sports experience, meaning that I have an in-depth knowledge of the rules and specific features of most sports. Together with my many journeys abroad and qualifications as a linguist and translator, this puts me in a perfect position to fulfil all your requirements in the field of professional sports translation!
